Ely Blueberry Arts Festival Round Two!
from my 7/25/24 newsletter…
I’m sitting in my porch this morning, the sun streaming in, gearing up to take on another “pack-up-load-in-setup” day. Soon Spencer, Rudder and I will be well into our routine of packing everything into the trailer and the Jeep to head up to Ely for my first three-day festival weekend of the season. I have a whole bunch of new additions to my booth and I’m so excited to put it all together!
This past week flew by. I received my first bulk shipment of unfinished frames and spent the majority of last weekend staining, sanding, and varnishing — an undertaking I had estimated to take me a few hours that I ended up working on over the course of three days 😂. But I am so pleased with the results. There is just something really special about choosing my own stain and finish so that my frames compliment my work to my own liking. I can’t wait to offer my original work displayed in these creations of mine.
Of course, not everything goes as planned. My big glass order didn’t arrive in time for me to mat and frame all the pieces I wanted. But I did have the right sized glass to frame two beautiful little homages to Gooseberry Falls State Park that I painted in April. I’m losing my ever-loving mind a little bit over how gorgeous these babies look in their new frames.
If you’ll be in Ely this weekend, you’ll get to see them in person! Woohoo!
I’m also super excited to announce that I am introducing a brand new Limited Edition Print into my lineup. I thought at first that it was a bit out of place to launch a winter-themed print in the middle of July, but I know Ely, and you people love your snow. You can find the new “The Winter I Wanted” Giclée print in my shop by clicking here.
Last night, in the midst of the chaos of packing and running through very long to-do lists, I was surprised with an online purchase of one of my original paintings, “Baptized in Light”. Shout-out to my partner, Spencer and his LinkedIn “Watercolor Wednesday” series where he’s been graciously posting photos of my art every week, and to the lovely individual, Jason, who purchased this beloved piece. You made my week! It was packaged on the floor of my porch because there was not one available flat surface in the house. Everything is covered in frames, glass, prints, cards, or other original art, but I promise, like anything else I ship to my collectors, it was packaged with love and gratitude.
If you’ve made it this far, thanks for reading. I love sharing about my process in the hope of giving you an authentic glance at the person behind the art, and if you’re a fellow artist, to show you that living an artist’s life is possible and so wonderfully fulfilling.
I hope to see you this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! If you’re not able to make it to Ely this weekend, click here to find my 2024 event lineup and see where you can find me next! 🧡🌲✌🏼
